Fixed project price, optional renewal

Website development without a mandatory subscription.

Based in Groningen, OmniTechs builds compact professional websites for sole traders and small businesses. You pay a fixed price for clearly scoped website development, rather than paying every month for the build itself. Twelve months of managed hosting are included; renewal afterwards is optional.

  • No mandatory website subscription
  • Twelve months hosting included

The short answer

Can a website really be built without a subscription?

Yes. Design and development can be delivered for a single, agreed project fee without turning build costs into an indefinite monthly subscription.

This does not mean a website stays online forever for free. Domain registration, hosting, and any third-party services will still be needed. The difference is that these ongoing costs are not bundled into a mandatory monthly retainer for the initial build.

  • You pay the agreed project price for the agreed scope.
  • Twelve months of managed hosting are included.
  • Hosting renewal afterwards is optional.
  • New requirements are scoped and confirmed in writing first.

Clear boundaries

What does ‘without subscription’ mean in practice?

At OmniTechs, it means you do not pay a compulsory monthly fee for the design and construction of your website. The fixed price comes with clear, explicit boundaries.

01 · Agreed

Included in scope

  • A pre-agreed project price and scope.
  • The agreed number of revision rounds.
  • Development and launch of the agreed website.
  • Domain connection, SSL, and twelve months of managed hosting.
  • Thirty days of post-launch defect support.
  • Pre-confirmed terms for the period after included hosting.

02 · Separate

Not automatically included

  • Unlimited changes or ongoing content management.
  • New pages or features outside the agreed scope.
  • Ongoing SEO, new copywriting, or advertising management.
  • External software, licenses, or subscriptions.
  • Guaranteed rankings, enquiries, reviews, or revenue.
  • A blanket guarantee that all design and source files can be ported elsewhere.

Building versus running

Without a subscription does not mean zero recurring costs.

Build costs and operational costs are distinct decisions. Separating them lets you compare proposals objectively.

One-off project costs

  • strategy and scoping
  • design and development
  • content setup
  • technical configuration
  • testing and launch

Potentially recurring costs

  • domain registration and hosting
  • business email services
  • software licenses or external tools
  • technical maintenance and security updates
  • content updates and ongoing SEO

Two payment models

Website subscription or fixed project fee?

Both models have legitimate use cases. The right choice depends on your starting budget, the level of ongoing support you need, and how frequently your site changes.

Comparison between a fixed project price and a website subscription
ComponentOne-off projectWebsite subscription
Payment for developmentFixed project priceSpread across monthly payments
Upfront investmentTypically higherOften lower or zero initial cost
Monthly commitmentNone for developmentUsually required
HostingIncluded temporarily or arranged separatelyOften bundled into the monthly fee
ModificationsOnly when scoped and agreedSometimes partially included
Total cost of ownershipPredictable upfront boundaryDepends on contract duration and terms
Cancellation / ExitNo build subscription to cancelConsequences vary by provider
FlexibilityScope and future work are decided independentlyOften locked into a single ongoing package

A fixed project price usually fits better when

  • you need a compact business website with clear scope
  • your website does not change substantially every month
  • you want to know total build costs before starting
  • you only want to pay for updates when you actually need them

A subscription may make more sense when

  • you want to keep the initial cash outlay as low as possible
  • you require ongoing monthly support or content updates
  • hosting, maintenance, and content must be managed together continuously
  • you prefer a single vendor to handle everything under a retainer

The honest comparison

Look beyond the monthly fee.

A low monthly figure says little about total expenditure. Compare the same timeframe, the same scope, and the same exit terms.

Total cost = initial setup + all monthly/annual fees + extra scope + external software

Choose the smallest fitting route

Is a website without a subscription right for your business?

Likely a good fit when

  • you are a sole trader or small business owner
  • your offer can be explained in a few clear sections
  • customers primarily need to call, email, message, visit, or request a quote
  • you do not need an online shop, client portal, or custom software
  • you prefer agreeing on fixed scope and pricing upfront
  • you do not expect monthly content overhauls

Likely not a good fit when

  • you publish large amounts of new content daily
  • multiple team members must manage pages independently
  • you require a complex e-commerce shop, user accounts, payments, or booking systems
  • the website must integrate with critical operational backends
  • you have many distinct services each requiring standalone search intent
  • your core offer or target audience is not yet validated

Sometimes a new website is not necessary yet. If an optimised Google Business Profile, an existing directory listing, or a simple smart link already handles your customer journey effectively, that may be the smaller, better solution.

From enquiry to launch

How your website is built.

Each milestone prevents scope creep, unexpected fees, or unassigned responsibilities after launch.

  1. We verify the fit

You describe your business, audience, and the primary action for visitors. We assess whether a compact package is sufficient.

  2. Scope and pricing are confirmed in writing

The deliverable, sections, required input, revision rounds, price, timeline, and boundaries are documented before kickoff.

  3. You provide the necessary assets

For Local Launch, you provide base copy, logos, imagery, and access. For Local Presence System, an interview forms the basis of the copy.

  4. The website is designed and developed

The mobile-first page delivers one clear customer journey without adding unneeded bloat or complexity.

  5. Feedback is consolidated in rounds

You collect feedback per agreed revision round. We implement edits within the confirmed scope.

  6. The website is tested and launched

Upon approval, we verify domain routing, SSL, and technical foundations before bringing the site live.

After the included period

What happens after the included twelve months?

Hosting renewal is optional. The current renewal terms are confirmed in writing before work begins. Your domain, business content and business data remain yours. This ensures subsequent hosting decisions are clear well before launch.

If you choose not to renew, the included hosting period concludes. Project agreements specify beforehand what can technically be exported or transferred, who performs each step, the timeframe, and any associated fees. Without such an agreement, you cannot assume the identical website can be seamlessly migrated elsewhere.

Terms regarding design assets, technical files, external components, and codebase rights are confirmed in writing per project.

Pre-agreement checklist

Key considerations before committing to a website without a subscription

‘Paying once’ is only a sound proposition when the post-launch lifecycle is equally clear.

What is strictly included in the fixed fee?

Review design, copywriting, mobile responsiveness, forms, SEO foundations, revision rounds, hosting, and support—not merely the number of sections.

Which costs might recur in the future?

Ensure domain registration, hosting, maintenance, licenses, modifications, and third-party tools are broken down separately.

What happens if I decide not to renew hosting?

Ask which hosting terminates, what is exportable, who handles migration, and what timing and fees apply.

Who holds the domain registration?

Ensure the domain is registered under your business name and that you retain administrative access.

What assets can I take with me?

Explicitly document ownership of copy, images, business data, design files, codebases, external software licenses, and exports.

Are ongoing changes included?

Technical maintenance is not the same as free new pages, copy, or features. Ask for explicit boundaries.

Frequently asked questions about websites without subscriptions

Can I get a website built without monthly fees?

You can pay for design and development once without a compulsory monthly retainer. Keeping it live online typically requires a domain and hosting. OmniTechs fixed website packages include twelve months of managed hosting.

Is hosting included in the fixed price?

Yes. Both Local Launch and Local Presence System include twelve months of managed hosting. Renewal thereafter is optional; current terms are confirmed in writing before starting.

How much does a website without a subscription cost at OmniTechs?

Current fixed pricing is displayed directly from approved OmniTechs packages on this page. The pricing page provides the complete scope for Local Launch and Local Presence System.

Do I fully own my website after payment?

Your domain, business content, and business data remain yours. Specific agreements regarding design assets, technical components, proprietary dependencies, and export paths are confirmed in writing per project.

Can I edit the website myself?

That depends on the agreed architecture. Fixed packages do not include unlimited self-service CMS setups by default. Self-management must be defined as a requirement before kickoff.

What happens if I don't renew hosting?

Included hosting ends after twelve months. What can technically be transferred or exported, and under what conditions, is defined in advance in the project agreement.

Is a website subscription always more expensive?

Not necessarily. A subscription can be suitable for businesses wanting zero upfront capital expenditure and continuous monthly assistance. Compare total costs over the same period and understand the cancellation terms.

Is a website without a subscription worse for SEO?

No. The billing model has no bearing on search ranking. Technical speed, relevance, search intent, competition, internal structure, and authority are what matter. No package guarantees specific rankings.

Can I add extra pages later on?

Additional pages are evaluated as new scope and, where appropriate, quoted separately and confirmed in writing prior to work commencing.

How fast can the website go live?

Local Launch: Usually within ten working days after the scope, content, access and remaining input are complete. Local Presence System: Usually within fifteen working days after the interview, content, access and remaining input are complete.

Are the published prices inclusive of VAT?

No. Published OmniTechs prices are exclusive of VAT.
