About Flexi pumpkin
This flexi pumpkin is printed in one piece, with the hinges built in. The middle section has a face with triangular eyes, a triangular nose and a wide grin. On the left and right there is a side segment that is hinged, and according to the designer the little stem wiggles along. Nothing clicks: it is a fidget to play with. Designed by Vireo Studio.
We print it in the colours you see in the photos: beige, one colour for the whole piece. At the top there is a loop for a key ring. Key ring included. This is decoration, not a toy; not suitable for children under 3 (small parts).

Is a pumpkin a vegetable or a fruit?
Both, depending on whom you ask. For a botanist, a pumpkin is a fruit, namely a kind of berry called a pepo. In the kitchen and in dietary advice it counts as a vegetable: the Netherlands Nutrition Centre classes pumpkin as a fruit vegetable, a vegetable of which we eat the fruit of the plant.
The botanical view
According to Encyclopaedia Britannica, a pumpkin is the fruit of certain species of the genus Cucurbita. It belongs to the gourd family, together with cucumbers, melons and gourds. Pumpkin plants form long, annual vines.
Pumpkins are often yellowish to orange, and some varieties have a white skin. The stem is hard and woody. The fruits ripen in early autumn.
The kitchen view
The Netherlands Nutrition Centre divides vegetables into groups. Pumpkin is listed under fruit vegetables, together with courgette, cucumber, pepper, tomato and aubergine, among others. According to the Nutrition Centre, a 50-gram serving spoon of pumpkin contains 7 kilocalories.

Storing pumpkin
According to the Nutrition Centre, a whole pumpkin keeps for about two months in the fruit bowl, and a year in the freezer. Keep a cut piece in the fridge, with the cut surface covered. Winter vegetables such as pumpkin are best stored in a cool, dry and dark place.
You can roast pumpkin seeds; in the United States they are called pepitas.
A pumpkin you don't eat
This flexi pumpkin is made to fidget with, not to eat. The movement is in the hinges between the middle section and the sides, not in soft material. You can read about the difference between hinged printing and truly flexible print material in the knowledge-base article on flexible 3D printing.
On the included key ring it hangs on your keys or your bag. Fold the sides open and closed gently and the hinges stay smooth, and remove dust between the parts with a soft brush.
