Parts, material and use
This vase is a round pumpkin with deep ribs and a wide open top. On the front is a pumpkin face with slanted eyes and a toothy grin, in relief rather than cut out. So it looks like a carved pumpkin but stays closed. The design is by Kowafatcompany; we print it to order in 3D-printed plastic.
Fill it with dried flowers, ornamental grasses or a few branches, or use it as a container for wrapped sweets. For fresh flowers, put a glass or watertight pot inside; the vase itself is not watertight. You choose the colour yourself: orange is classic, white or black a little bolder. We deliver within 30 days at most. Put a deadline such as 31 October in the note field.

Which flowers suit autumn and Halloween?
Choose warm autumn colours such as orange, deep red, burgundy and golden yellow, perhaps with a few very dark flowers for a Halloween feel. Chrysanthemums, dahlias, sunflowers and Chinese lanterns are easy to find in autumn. Dried flowers, ornamental grasses and branches with berries finish it off.
Flowers and branches for autumn
In autumn there are plenty of flowers that go with pumpkins and falling leaves. When buying, pay particular attention to the colours; they decide whether the bouquet leans towards autumn or towards Halloween.
- Chrysanthemums: available in many colours and long-lasting in a vase.
- Dahlias: they bloom until the first night frost, also in very dark shades.
- Sunflowers: big and cheerful, lovely in a low, wide vase.
- Chinese lantern plant: orange 'lanterns' that you can also use dried.
- Ornamental grasses, dried hydrangea and branches with berries: for structure and to keep the bouquet looking good for longer.
For a Halloween bouquet, add a few dark flowers, such as an almost black dahlia, or bare branches that stick out a little eerily.
Common mistakes
- Putting fresh flowers straight into a vase that is not watertight.
- Too much orange together, so everything blends into one. A little green or dark red makes it livelier.
- Leaving leaves below the waterline, so the water quickly starts to smell.
- Putting a bouquet in full sun, so the flowers wilt quickly.
An autumn bouquet in this pumpkin vase
The pumpkin vase has a round shape and a wide opening. That calls for a low, full bouquet: a few chrysanthemums or dahlias with some ornamental grass or twigs in between. Let the flowers stick out just above the rim, so the face on the front stays clearly visible. A few pumpkin vases next to each other in different colours make a small pumpkin patch on the table.
For fresh flowers, put a glass jar or another watertight inner pot in the vase, because the printed material does not hold water. With dried flowers or dried Chinese lanterns you don't need that, and the bouquet stays beautiful for weeks. Keep the vase indoors and not in full sun behind glass: ordinary 3D-printing plastic such as PLA softens from about 55 to 60 degrees.
