Parts, material and use
The pumpkin dragon keychain is a dragon with a jack-o'-lantern head: triangular eyes, a grin and a green stem. The long body consists of segments with green spikes, so it wriggles and curls up. Designed by Biocraftlab.
Lay it on a shelf, let it hang over the edge of a bowl or hang it on your bunch of keys. You choose the main colour, orange being the most autumnal; we print the spikes and the stem in green as in the photo, or you can ask for another colour in the note field. Key ring included. This is decoration, not a toy; not suitable for children under 3 (small parts).

Bambu P1S · nozzle 0.4 mm, calibrated SUNLU PLA+, Bambu Studio 02.08.02.61. For multiple parts we add up the separate print runs; we have not optimised a combined print plate.

3MF dimensions follow the embedded unit. For STL and OBJ geometry we assume millimetres; those files do not prove a unit of measurement themselves. For assembled products, outer dimensions per part are not a measurement of the finished object. A mask fit, lamp holder, load capacity or food safety does not follow from a successful slice.

Which keychain lasts the longest?
A keychain lasts longest when four things are right: the material, the ring, the eyelet the ring goes through and the thickness of the whole. A keychain usually does not break in the middle, but at the eyelet or the ring. That is where most of the load is.
What it comes down to
- Material: metal and thick wood are the strongest. 3D-printed plastic is light and sturdy enough for daily use, but not indestructible.
- The ring: a sturdy steel split ring holds better than a thin chain or a small hook.
- The eyelet: the thicker the material around the hole, the better it absorbs pulling and twisting.
- Thickness: thin, fine parts break more quickly than compact shapes.
Common mistakes
- Hanging a heavy bunch of keys from a thin eyelet.
- Using the keychain to pull your keys out of a tight trouser pocket.
- Leaving a plastic keychain on the dashboard in a hot car; ordinary print plastic such as PLA softens from about 55 to 60 °C.
- Using a moving figure as a handle, so the hinges are loaded all the time.
It is better to hang a figure with moving parts on a separate ring, apart from your heavy keys. Then the figure does not keep twisting along with everything you grab.
Print direction and strength
With a 3D print, the direction in which it was printed also plays a part. A printed part is strongest within a layer and weakest between two layers. That is why, for an eyelet or hanging point, we look at how the load runs.
That is also why two keychains made of the same material can wear very differently. Shape and print direction count just as much as the material itself.
How long does the pumpkin dragon last?
The pumpkin dragon has a movable body with many small segments. That makes it fun to hold, but it also means that on a bunch of keys it has more to endure than a flat pendant. If you mainly use it as decoration on your desk or on your bag, you will enjoy it for a long time.
