About Wolf
This wolf is one of the articulated animal figures from Biocraftlab's Boreal Forest series, animals from the northern forests. Its neck, back and tail have hinged parts, so you can lay it flat, let it look up or turn its tail to one side. The figure is printed in one piece, with the hinges built in. Designed by Biocraftlab.
We print it in the colours you see in the photos: grey with a white snout and chest and pink ears. Hang it on your keyring or backpack, or stand it on your desk. Key ring included. This is decoration, not a toy; not suitable for children under 3 (small parts).

Frequently asked questions
How many wolves live in the Netherlands?
Nobody knows exactly. In 2025, BIJ12 used DNA to identify 131 different wolves, spread over 14 packs, mainly on the Veluwe and in Drenthe. The full answer is in the guide on this page.
What moves or clicks on this keychain, and does it suit keys or a bag?
Nothing clicks: the wolf moves through hinged parts in its neck, back and tail and is printed in one piece. We print the version with a hole for a key ring, and the key ring is included. Because it moves, it hangs best on your bag.
What does it cost (€19 incl. VAT), what colour is it printed in, is a key ring included and when is it delivered?
It costs €19 incl. VAT. We print it in the colours you see in the photos: grey with a white snout and chest and pink ears. Key ring included. We print after you pay and deliver within 30 days; shipping within the Netherlands is included. If you have a deadline, put it in the remarks field; we confirm by email.

How many wolves live in the Netherlands?
Nobody knows exactly, because wolves travel long distances and also cross the border back and forth. In 2025 BIJ12, which monitors the wolf for the Dutch provinces, used DNA to identify 131 different wolves in the Netherlands, 30 more than in 2024. That year there were 14 packs: seven on the Veluwe, four in Drenthe, two in the Gelderse Vallei and one on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug.
Why there is no exact number
BIJ12 counts a pack when a pair of wolves has had young together. Young wolves leave after a while to look for a territory of their own. In 2025, for example, a young wolf was found some 120 kilometres from its parents' territory. As a result, the number of wolves in an area keeps changing.
That is why BIJ12 does not count with binoculars, but with DNA from hair, droppings and bite wounds, and with images from wildlife cameras. The figure of 131 is the number of different wolves whose traces were found in 2025. According to BIJ12, the exact number of wolves cannot be determined.
How it happened so fast
According to the Dutch broadcaster NOS, the wolf returned to the Netherlands in 2015, after an absence of about 150 years. Since 2018 a resident wolf has lived on the Veluwe again, and in 2019 cubs were born here for the first time in a long while. According to BIJ12, about 70 per cent of the growth in 2025 came from cubs in existing packs; the other new wolves came mainly from Germany. Cubs were born in ten packs in 2025, at least 46 in total. Wageningen Environmental Research estimates that the Netherlands has room for at least 23 packs.
Do you see a wolf?
- Stay calm and keep at least 100 metres away by slowly walking backwards.
- Keep your dog on a short lead.
- If the wolf still comes too close, make noise and big gestures.
- Never feed, lure or follow a wolf.
- Report your sighting, preferably with a photo, to the BIJ12 wolf reporting point.
A wolf on your keys
Biocraftlab's wolf is a lot friendlier than its wild model: a small figure with hinged parts in its neck, back and tail. Because the parts move, it takes more of a beating on a full bunch of keys than a flat pendant. You can also hang the included key ring on the zip of your bag, so it does not keep swinging around with your heavy keys. How strong such a printed figure is, you can read in the knowledge-base article on the strength of a 3D print.
